programming/GSoC 2008 » Addressing desktop integration issues

Project Overview

While GNUstep is a powerful environment for developing applications, there are still some issues with certain window managers. As well, GNUstep applications do not always work well with non-GNUstep applications.

The freedesktop.org project was formed to address interoperability issues between different desktop environments such as GNOME and KDE. The focus of this project is to improve GNUstep's compiliance with freedesktop.org specifications, as well as possibly using some of freedesktop.org's software, without sacrificing any of GNUstep's features.
